Temporary military area established at Grenaa Port

A temporary military area (MMO) has been set up at Grenaa Port, Denmark, effective from Sunday afternoon until Thursday evening. This measure is part of an ongoing NATO operation requiring the shipment of "sensitive materiel" destined for Latvia.

The military zone will be secured and located within an already restricted section of the port, with no public access permitted. Home Guard soldiers will be responsible for guarding the area, ensuring the security of the operation.

Authorities, including the police, anticipate that the establishment of the MMO will have little to no impact on the daily lives of residents in the vicinity. However, they have advised that both police and military personnel will be more visible in and around the Grenaa Port area during this period than usual.

Brian Voss Olsen, police inspector at East Jutland Police, stated that the police and military presence will be noticeable. The operation aims to facilitate the secure transfer of NATO assets, underscoring Denmark's role in supporting the alliance's activities in the region.
