Ten-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling Into an 80-Meter Well in Algeria

After four days of nonstop operations, rescuers recovered the body of Ayoub, a 10-year-old boy who fell into an 80-meter-deep dry artesian well in southwestern Algeria.

Civil Protection said rescuers had located the point where the child was trapped and recovered his body. The operation ended after authorities deployed all available human and material resources, working with local officials and other agencies.

The accident happened in the village of Errokn, in the Ghassoul municipality of El Bayadh province. Ayoub fell into the well while walking over a wooden board that covered its opening.
