Tetouan morgue receives new victims from Ceuta border crossing, death toll reaches 20

The forensic department in Tetouan has received three new bodies, bringing the total number of victims from the recent mass border crossing into Ceuta to 20. The latest arrivals include two unidentified individuals of white ethnicity and a Moroccan national from Khénifra, according to a source speaking to Hespress.

These new bodies were added to the 17 previously received by the morgue in the Taboula neighborhood. Six of the deceased have since been identified and handed over to their families after legal and identification procedures were completed. Fourteen bodies remain at the facility.

Authorities have ordered medical autopsies for all bodies as part of the legal process to determine the causes of death. Confirmed identities of some victims include individuals from Casablanca, Martil, El Ksar El Kbir, M'Diq, Oujda, and Khénifra, along with two victims holding Yemeni and Sudanese nationalities. The investigation aims to complete identification and legal formalities before releasing the remaining bodies to their relatives.
