The Thai BL (Boys' Love) scene is buzzing with the return of the popular golden couple, TutorYim, in their new drama "Old Fashioned Boyfriend" (ChermChey). After four years of collaboration, the duo is shedding their youthful image for a more mature and realistic portrayal of adult romance, promising an elevated scale, atmosphere, and emotional depth.

Directed by Cheewin Thanamin Wongsakulpach, known for "Bed Friends," and based on the original work by acclaimed Thai author Nottakorn, "Old Fashioned Boyfriend" delves into the complexities of relationships between adults. Unlike previous BL dramas focused on youthful infatuation, this series explores the lives of individuals navigating careers, heartbreak, and the search for genuine connection. The narrative centers on Akara (Yim), who has lost faith in true love after repeated heartbreaks, and Intha (Tutor), a straightforward and assertive individual. Their paths cross after Akara makes a wish at a temple, leading them to connect through shared experiences at a bar and daily companionship.

Because the character setting is relatively rough and direct, both of us have made many adjustments in our acting methods, hoping that the audience can see different sparks.

The drama distinguishes itself with its high degree of realism, depicting intimate moments such as late-night conversations over drinks, dealing with the aftermath of breakups, and emotional breakdowns. Scenes feature the protagonists casually dressed in boxer briefs at home, doing chores shirtless, and gradually lowering their guards under the influence of alcohol. The subtle progression of their relationship, marked by lingering glances and close proximity, has been described by viewers as "adults' fatal ambiguity" rather than simple romance.
