The family of a 17-year-old Thai girl is grappling with profound grief after her body was discovered in a suitcase in the resort city of Pattaya. The tragic find has led to the arrest of an Australian man, who faces serious charges including murder.

Thai police apprehended the suspect, identified as Simon Peter Carman, at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport early Saturday. He is accused of murder, concealing a body, and taking a minor for sexual purposes. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage that reportedly showed Carman entering a condominium with the girl and later leaving alone, carrying a suitcase. Police stated he transported the suitcase via motorcycle to a secluded area.

I am deeply saddened. My daughter had no mother, so whenever she wanted anything, she would find a way herself, and she always helped me too.

Carman, in a statement from a police investigation room, expressed remorse to the victim's family, saying, "I feel bad for what happened to your daughter. It was out of my control." However, the victim's father described his deep sadness, while her stepmother demanded the harshest punishment, stating, "I want him executed."
