Thai Firm Suspends Staffer After Fan Event Altercation, Denies Discrimination

An incident at a fan event for Thai BL couple JuniorMark has ignited a social media dispute between Chinese and Thai netizens after a Chinese woman was removed from the venue for allegedly cutting in line.

Video footage circulating online showed a woman in an orange outfit being escorted away by staff. The woman claimed she did not cut in line and alleged she was assaulted by staff, including being choked and pushed to the ground after kicking a staff member in self-defense. Her phone was reportedly confiscated.

However, Thai fans present at the event reportedly applauded her removal, creating a stark contrast in perceptions of the incident. Chinese fans subsequently called for GMMTV to issue a public apology, investigate the event, and punish the staff involved.

GMMTV released a statement acknowledging that the staff member's actions "exceeded the necessary force" for the situation. The company stated it does not support any form of violence and expressed regret for the incident. The staff member involved was an external contractor, not a full-time employee, but GMMTV has suspended their contract pending a full investigation. The company also clarified that it has not filed any lawsuits against the individual and emphasized that it has no policy or practice of discriminating against any nationality.
