The death toll from a tragic school shooting in Thailand has climbed to nine after a 12-year-old girl succumbed to her critical injuries on Saturday. The incident occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi school, located northwest of Bangkok.

According to police at the Plai Bang Police Station in Nonthaburi Province, the young victim had been receiving hospital treatment following the attack on Friday. The shooting was allegedly carried out by a 14-year-old boy, who first attacked his grandparents before proceeding to the school. He reportedly wounded over 30 people before taking his own life.

The suspected attacker used his grandfather's gun, firing at least 26 bullets, and was found with additional ammunition. A lockdown at the school was lifted within approximately 30 minutes.

In response to the violence, Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced intentions to implement new gun laws, stating that only government officials on duty would be permitted to carry firearms.
