The 2026 holidays still ahead: Two long weekends and a bridge holiday across Spain

Spain’s 2026 holiday calendar still offers workers several chances to extend their time off after the summer holidays. Three national holidays remain: October 12, which falls on a Monday; December 8, a Tuesday; and Christmas Day, December 25, which falls on a Friday.

The December 8 holiday can become a four-day break for people who take Monday, December 7, off. In eight autonomous communities, the break will already be extended because Constitution Day, December 6, falls on a Sunday and moves to Monday, December 7. Workers in Andalusia, Aragon, Castile and León, Cantabria, Madrid, Murcia, Extremadura and La Rioja could therefore rest from December 5 through December 8.

November will also bring a long weekend in several regions. All Saints’ Day falls on Sunday, November 1, and the holiday will move to Monday, November 2, in Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha, Madrid, Extremadura and Navarre. Navarre will also observe a regional holiday on December 3.

Spain’s labor calendar contains 14 public holidays, including two set by local councils. Nine national holidays are mandatory unless they fall on a Sunday, while three others are optional for the autonomous communities. Regional holidays later in the year include Friday, September 11, in Catalonia and Friday, October 9, in Valencia. Valencia will have a four-day weekend because its holiday connects with the national holiday on Monday, October 12.
