The 50 Best Hotels Names Its Top 100, Including Three Hotels in Mexico

Mexico has three entries among the 100 hotels recognized in The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026 ranking. The list highlights properties on the country’s Caribbean and Pacific coasts.

Hotel Esencia, on Xpu-Ha Beach in the Riviera Maya, holds 64th place. Originally built as an Italian duchess’s holiday home, it now has 47 suites and four villas surrounded by tropical forest. Open terraces overlook the Caribbean, and the property includes a spa, gym and tennis court. Guests can kayak and row on the clear waters of Laguna Escondida, or take panoramic helicopter flights.

Its restaurants include Beefbar, which serves meat cuts, Mistura, with Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine, and Taiyo, focused on Japanese omakase. The hotel is located on the Cancún to Tulum highway in Quintana Roo.

Montage Los Cabos sits in the desert landscape of Santa María Bay, in Baja California Sur. The property has 122 sea-view rooms, three pools, family activities, water and sports experiences, and its own golf course. Its wellness center offers Pilates, yoga and meditation classes, alongside spa treatments. Restaurants include Mezcal, which serves gourmet Mexican food with wines, tequilas and mezcals from across the country, and Marea, with separate daytime and evening menus.

The third entry, Four Seasons Tamarindo, holds 74th place. The resort lies south of Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, in an area known as the Costa de la Alegría. It is surrounded by a 1,220-hectare reserve and built on a cliff about 200 meters from the beach. The property can be reached only by private plane or boat. Guests can explore trails, beaches and coves, and may spot local wildlife from the villas and small houses.
