The G7 Does Not Deserve Condemnation

The Group of Seven (G7) nations, representing 25% of global GDP and 13.5% of its growth since 2015, lag significantly behind the BRICS bloc, which has seen approximately 4.2% annual growth compared to the G7's 1.7%. Their share of world trade stands at a mere 12%. With over 780 million inhabitants, roughly 10% of the global population, G7 countries boast a higher average life expectancy of 82 years and a median age of 43, contrasting with the global median of 30. The G7's primary function is not to dominate international relations but to coordinate member states' responses to challenges affecting developed societies, particularly in political, economic, financial, and technological sectors. The group actively engages with international organizations and other countries as partners, addressing critical issues such as development finance, global health, education, and protecting minors from digital risks. The article argues that the G7, despite its diminished economic influence, remains a vital forum for coordinated action on pressing global issues.
