"The Last Viking" Sweeps Svend Awards with Two Statuettes

Anders Thomas Jensen's dramedy "The Last Viking" secured two major awards at the Svend Prisen ceremony, held in Svendborg. The film itself was crowned Best Danish Film, and its lead actor, Mads Mikkelsen, received accolades for his performance.

The Svend Prisen, often referred to as a "people's award," saw the public cast their votes for the winners. Nominees for films are determined by ticket sales from the previous year, while series nominations are based on viewership figures from both traditional television and streaming platforms. All acting nominees have appeared in the nominated films and series.

This year's ceremony also honored veteran actor Nikolaj Lie Kaas with a lifetime achievement award. The board of the Svend Filmdage, the film festival culminating in the awards, selects the recipient of this prestigious recognition.

Other notable awards included "Børnene fra Sølvgade 2: Tager kampen op" for Best Danish Children's and Youth Film, Trine Dyrholm for Best Actress for her role in "Begyndelser," and "Uniformen" for Best Danish TV Drama Series. Molly Blixt Egelind was recognized as the Best Danish Actress in a TV Drama Series for her work in the seventh season of "Sygeplejeskolen."
