‘The Odyssey’ nears 10 million admissions after 32 days at No. 1

‘The Odyssey’ is closing in on the 10 million admissions mark in South Korea after spending 32 consecutive days at the top of the box office.

The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, drew 301,247 viewers on the fifth day of the month, according to data released on the sixth by the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system. Its cumulative audience reached 9,768,259, leaving roughly 230,000 admissions to reach 10 million.

The movie follows Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he tries to return to his wife Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway, and son Telemachus, played by Tom Holland. After leading the Greeks to victory in the 10-year Trojan War, Odysseus begins his journey home while invasion and a struggle for power unfold in his kingdom during his absence.

The film passed 1 million viewers on its fourth day, 2 million on its sixth, 3 million on its 10th, 4 million on its 12th, and 5 million on its 13th day. It reached 6 million on day 17, 7 million on day 19, 8 million on day 24 and 9 million on day 27.
