The Resistance Commemorates the Battles of Ait Abdullah

The Moroccan resistance and liberation army family gathered in the Tiznit province to commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the Battles of Ait Abdullah, a pivotal historical moment symbolizing the values of struggle and defense of the nation's unity and sacredness. This occasion was marked by the second forum for the memory of the resistance in the Western High Atlas, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The commemoration is intertwined with significant historical anniversaries: the 67th anniversary of the late King Mohammed V's visit to Tafraout, the 54th anniversary of the late King Hassan II's historic visit to the region, and the 25th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI's visit. These connections underscore the enduring royal commitment to the region and its historical significance.

In Tafraout, a cornerstone was laid for a memorial project aimed at immortalizing the memory of the Ait Abdullah battles and celebrating the region's heroes. This project also strengthens the partnership between the High Commission for Former Resistance Members and Army of Liberation and the local commune in preserving historical memory. Additionally, the delegation inspected the renovation project for "Resistance Street," a significant investment designed to improve infrastructure, facilitate access to the historical memory space, and enhance the urban aesthetics of the area, aligning with its educational and cultural roles.

In the Amlen commune, a memorial dedicated to the resistance of the region's people in defense of religious sanctities and national constants was inaugurated. This monument is part of a partnership agreement to highlight patriotism and the sacrifices of the resistance fighters, connecting younger generations with symbols of the struggle. A commemorative festival and a dialogue session were held, including the honoring of several former resistance members, a symbolic gesture of appreciation for their contributions. The High Commission expressed its aspiration to shed light on the epics of freedom, independence, and national unity through such events, enriching the national archives with research that illuminates the collective memory of the Western High Atlas tribes.
