The Super Police Cars That Stand Out

Bugattis in Dubai, Lamborghinis in Italy and a Tesla Cybertruck in California are among the police cars that stand out on roads around the world. Their performance helps officers keep pace with offenders, while some vehicles serve more specialized purposes.

In Italy, Lamborghini cars have been used for medical missions, including urgent organ transport. The partnership between the Italian sports-car maker and the state began in 2004, and models such as the Gallardo and Huracán have been used over the years. The latest addition, a Urus Performante, has a V8 engine and a refrigerated compartment for organs and plasma.

Dubai police also use the Urus Performante, which can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.3 seconds. Authorities say it helps maintain law and order and provide services to tourists and the wider community. The city has also become known for police cars including the Aston Martin Vantage, Bugatti Veyron, McLaren and Bentley.

According to The Times, Dubai’s luxury police fleet functions partly as a rolling form of representation rather than simply as a patrol force. Austria, by contrast, has a long tradition of using Porsche cars on its motorways. Austrian authorities say officers use the sports cars carefully, aiming to set an example.

“We want to show that you can drive responsibly and carefully even in a powerful sports car,” Austria’s national police and security chief said in a comment on the Porsche partnership. Japan uses cars such as the Nissan GT-R and Lexus LC 500 for special assignments requiring greater performance. Electric vehicles have also entered police fleets, including the Audi A6 Avant e-tron in Germany and the Tesla Cybertruck in Las Vegas, where Sheriff Kevin McMahill said, “Welcome to the police force of the future.”
