Theologian: Church suffers damage from frivolous actions

Theologian Kostadin Nushev has voiced strong criticism regarding the Bulgarian Orthodox Church's recent public engagements, arguing that its participation in what he terms "frivolous actions" is detrimental.

When non-church factors engage with the church, it leads to division.

Nushev stated that when external, non-church entities become involved with the church, it inevitably leads to division. He emphasized that the church cannot be partisan or align itself exclusively with certain movements or factions within society. "The church cannot be politicized or associate itself only with certain currents," he asserted.

He further elaborated on the church's role in childcare, suggesting that it possesses its own established methods for supporting children. Nushev believes these internal church mechanisms are sufficient and that the church should not lend its support to public processions or secular events. "The church has ways to care for children, not to stand behind a procession," he explained, highlighting a perceived misstep in recent church activities.
