‘They may not be the stalwarts, but they have done great’: PM Modi praises SRCC’s ‘OG alumni’ at centenary celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered a playful tribute to Shri Ram College of Commerce’s alumni at the Delhi University institution’s centenary celebrations, saying: “They may not be the stalwarts, but they have done great.”

Modi was referring to the college’s prominent former students, including late union minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley and economist Sanjeev Sanyal. He also praised SRCC students for taking the college’s reputation onto the global stage.

“For over 100 years, Shri Ram College of Commerce has given generations of students opportunity to learn, grow, make a difference,” Modi said at the event. Earlier that day, he wrote that the college had distinguished itself through academic excellence, institution-building and the development of leaders in business, public life and society.

Students of SRCC took its glory to the global stage.

The prime minister travelled to the celebration by metro and interacted with young people. His visit came as the BJP continues its outreach to the younger generation. Modi last visited SRCC in 2013, when he was chief minister of Gujarat.

For over 100 years, Shri Ram College of Commerce has given generations of students opportunity to learn, grow, make a difference.

In April, he met the college’s governing body and a delegation at his residence to mark its 100th anniversary. He also released a commemorative postage stamp for the occasion.
