Thief Caught Inside Santa Cruz Jewelry Store During Attempted Robbery

A would-be thief was caught red-handed inside a jewelry store on Charcas Street in downtown Santa Cruz. Store owners, alerted by their security system, arrived to find the suspect inside, attempting to steal jewelry. The crime was thwarted, and the individual was handed over to the police.

Just last weekend, another jewelry store in the vicinity was targeted. Thieves broke through the ceiling, emptied display cases of rings, chains, and bracelets, and made off with the merchandise.

In that earlier incident, thieves had created a hole in the roof to gain access. However, attempts to enter two other nearby stores were unsuccessful because iron grilles on the ceiling prevented their entry.
