Think tank condemns Chinese tabloid over Batanes claim

The repeated revival of China’s false claims over Batanes is a “clear attempt to manufacture ambiguity” about the Philippines’ sovereignty over its northernmost province, the Stratbase Institute said.

In a statement, institute president Victor Andres “Dindo” Manhit condemned an opinion article published by China’s state-run Global Times.

The think tank’s criticism focused on what it described as the repeated resurrection of claims concerning Batanes. The province lies at the northernmost point of the Philippines.
