Thompson's niece recounts arduous pilgrimage to Sinj

Lejdi Perković Jarnec, niece of the renowned Croatian musician Marko Perković Thompson, has shared her experience of completing a demanding pilgrimage to Sinj for the Feast of the Assumption. Jarnec, who is also a makeup artist, joined thousands of believers on the journey, documenting her arduous but spiritually fulfilling trek through a series of photos and an emotional account shared on Instagram.

Step by step, prayer by prayer. The journey was difficult, there were moments when I thought I couldn't go on, but I didn't give up.

Her posts vividly depicted the pilgrimage, from nighttime walks along roads marked with "HODOČAŠĆE" signs to moments of rest and prayer with a rosary in hand. The photos captured her arrival at the "Sinj" sign and her final destination at the Sanctuary of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj. Despite appearing tired in some images, her face radiated peace and contentment.

Jarnec described the challenges she faced, stating, "Step by step, prayer by prayer. The journey was difficult, there were moments when I thought I couldn't go on, but I didn't give up." She revealed that upon reaching the Lady of Sinj, the exhaustion seemed to vanish, replaced by a profound sense of peace, gratitude, and fulfillment. "Thank you, Mother. Miraculous Lady of Sinj, thank you for giving me strength when I needed it most, for protecting me at every step, and for always being there to return to. The path always leads me to You, and I joyfully return to You each time," she wrote.

Today, when I arrived before the Lady of Sinj, all the hardship seemed to disappear for a moment. Only peace, gratitude, and a sense of fulfillment remained.
