Three Arrested in Monufia for Assaulting Man Over 'Joking' Dispute

Egyptian security forces have apprehended three individuals in the Monufia Governorate suspected of brutally assaulting a young man with a bladed weapon. The attack left the victim with multiple deep lacerations across his body.

The incident reportedly erupted from a dispute over joking among the group. The Ministry of Interior released details after a video and photos circulated on social media, showing the victim's sister complaining about the assault and alleging the theft of her brother's mobile phone.

Authorities investigated a report filed on August 7th by the victim, who identified three residents of the same district as his assailants. The suspects, when confronted, confessed to the assault, attributing it to the same joking-related disagreement. They also led investigators to the weapon used in the attack.

However, the arrested individuals denied stealing the victim's mobile phone. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and the relevant authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
