Three Children Die in Separate Tragic Accidents Across Israel

A day of profound sorrow unfolded across Israel as three children lost their lives in separate, tragic accidents, highlighting devastating moments for families and communities.

In Lod, a 5-year-old boy died after reportedly being forgotten in a family car for approximately two hours. Emergency services performed resuscitation efforts but were unable to save him. Initial investigations suggest the boy fell asleep during the drive home, and his family members allegedly exited the vehicle without realizing he remained inside. His father discovered him unconscious about two hours later and called for medical assistance.

Later that afternoon, tragedy struck again when 12-year-old Elhanan Karni from Modi'in Illit drowned in the Jordan River. The incident occurred during a family vacation near Yesod HaMa'ala while the boy was on a watercraft. Despite extensive searches involving police, rescue forces, a helicopter, and volunteers, the boy was found with no signs of life and pronounced dead at the scene.

The day's grim toll concluded with the death of 16-year-old Yehonatan Efraim Klimian from Katzrin. He fell approximately 30–40 meters while rappelling at Keshet Cave in the western Galilee. Paramedics and rescue teams worked for an extended period to provide life-saving resuscitation efforts, but the teenager was ultimately pronounced dead at the site.
