Three dead in Gifu fire after gathering of classmates, company executive may be involved

Three people died in a fire at a mixed-use building in Motosu, Gifu Prefecture, after a gathering that police believe involved 10 people, including residents and their former classmates.

The fire broke out on Sept. 5. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths and whether a company executive may have been involved.

Authorities also received a report that someone had stabbed a person and poured gasoline at the scene. The report is part of the investigation into the fire and the events that preceded it.
