Three films brave Italy's Ferragosto cinema release window

Italy's cinemas will see three new releases this week, daring to debut during the peak of the Ferragosto holiday. The films enter a competitive market, with Nolan's "Oppenheimer" and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" still drawing audiences.

The lineup offers variety. "La Fine di Oak Street" (The End of Oak Street) is a mystery thriller starring Anne Hathaway. The film is set in 1980s suburbia, where a cosmic event displaces an entire neighborhood, forcing the Platt family to confront an unknown and dangerous reality. Survival hinges on their unity as familiar surroundings turn menacing.

"Nimrods" offers a musical comedy centered on Tommy, a young musician whose band is unexpectedly chosen to open for Green Day. This opportunity, however, turns out to be a prank by his older brother. Unaware, Tommy embarks on a road trip with friends to Los Angeles in his brother's car.

Michael Sarnoski directs "Robin Hood - Il Prezzo del Sangue" (Robin Hood - The Price of Blood), featuring Hugh Jackman as an aging, wounded, and haunted Robin Hood. This version abandons the romantic outlaw image for a darker narrative. After a final battle leaves him injured, Robin is cared for by the mysterious Sister Brigid. His recovery forces him to confront a life defined by violence and vengeance, while a confrontation with Brigid challenges the legend he has built. The film explores remorse, the consequences of violence, and the possibility of redemption.
