Three injured in head-on collision near Karlsruhe

A serious traffic accident occurred on the L 559 near Karlsruhe, Germany, resulting in three individuals being hospitalized. The collision, a head-on crash between two cars, took place on Monday afternoon and led to significant road closures.

According to police reports, a 55-year-old female driver, traveling from Weingarten (Baden) towards Jöhlingen with a passenger, veered into oncoming traffic. She collided with a car driven by a 56-year-old man. Emergency services, including a rescue helicopter, were dispatched to the scene.

The passenger in the first vehicle, a 27-year-old woman, was airlifted to a hospital. The female driver of that car suffered severe injuries and was also taken to a hospital. The driver of the oncoming vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The L 559 was closed in both directions from approximately 4 PM until 7:30 PM local time to allow for rescue operations and accident investigation. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released further details.
