Three injured in two separate pile-ups on German highway A3

Three people were injured, including a 25-year-old woman who sustained serious injuries, in two separate rear-end collisions on the A3 highway near Wiesbaden, Germany. The incidents occurred on Friday, July 26, 2026, causing significant traffic disruptions.

The first accident happened when a 54-year-old driver had to brake suddenly after being cut off by an unidentified vehicle. A 25-year-old woman then rear-ended his car, triggering a chain reaction involving three additional vehicles. The injured woman was transported to a hospital.

Shortly thereafter, a second collision occurred at the traffic jam caused by the initial accident. This secondary crash involved three vehicles and resulted in minor injuries to two individuals, aged 84 and 86, who were also taken to the hospital.

In total, eight vehicles were involved across both accidents, with four requiring towing. The A3 highway remained closed in the direction of Würzburg for about three hours. Police estimated the total damage at approximately 88,000 euros and are investigating the driver of the unknown vehicle involved in the first collision.
