Three Instagram accounts face FIR over 'derogatory' posts targeting Rahul Gandhi

The Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police have initiated a First Information Report (FIR) against three Instagram accounts accused of publishing defamatory and abusive content targeting Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The action follows a complaint filed by a legal representative of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).

According to the complaint, the FIR was registered after allegations surfaced that Rahul Gandhi was subjected to offensive posts aimed at damaging his reputation and public image. One specific account, "ground.reality_india," is accused of uploading a 30-second video on July 16 with a caption questioning the opposition's silence. The complaint asserts that this video contained derogatory, abusive, and sexually offensive remarks intended to provoke viewers and undermine Gandhi's dignity.

In addition to the primary account, "raashtravaadhi2" and "manvithamanojsamanvi" are also named in the FIR. These accounts allegedly posted provocative and defamatory comments beneath the video, amplifying the offensive material. Cyber police inspector G Suresh confirmed that three separate cases have been registered and that digital evidence, including the video and comments, is being collected.

Authorities are actively working to trace the identities of the individuals operating these Instagram accounts and to determine if others were involved in creating or promoting the objectionable content. Further legal proceedings will depend on the outcome of this ongoing investigation.
