Three killed, 16 injured in bus-truck collision in Gopalganj

A tragic head-on collision in Gopalganj, Bangladesh, claimed the lives of three people and left at least 16 others injured this afternoon. The accident involved a Gopalganj-bound bus and a truck traveling in opposite directions. The bus, operated by Sonali Paribahan and traveling from Tekerhat, collided with the truck at Boultali on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat regional highway around 2:00 PM.

The impact sent the bus plunging into a roadside ditch, while the truck sustained severe damage to its front and overturned onto the road. The truck driver was among the fatalities, dying at the scene. The injured passengers were transported to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital, where two additional individuals succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was carrying approximately 25 to 30 passengers, with nearly all of them sustaining injuries. The deceased have been identified as truck driver Nadim Sheikh, 25, and Hasib, 26, a security guard who was a passenger in the truck. The identity of the third victim, a woman, remains unconfirmed.

The truck driver died on the spot. The injured were later rescued and taken to Gopalganj Medical College Hospital, where two others died while undergoing treatment.
