Thuringians pay more in inheritance and gift taxes

People in Thuringia paid 47.2 million euros in inheritance and gift taxes last year, according to the state statistics office. That was 7.3 million euros more than the previous year.

The Gotha tax office, which handles inheritance and gift tax matters in the state, issued 2,421 related assessments. Authorities assessed a total of 221 million euros from inheritances and gifts as taxable after deductions.

Inheritances accounted for 168.7 million euros of that amount, while gifts accounted for 52.2 million euros. The previous year’s total taxable amount had been 267.5 million euros.
