Tigre advances to Copa Sudamericana round of 16 despite loss to Nacional

Argentine club Tigre has secured a spot in the Copa Sudamericana round of 16, overcoming a second-leg deficit against Uruguay's Nacional. Despite a 2-1 loss at their Estadio "José Dellagiovanna" on Tuesday, Tigre advanced on a 4-2 aggregate score, building on their commanding 3-0 victory in the first leg played in Uruguay.

Nacional mounted a strong challenge, scoring two goals within the first 31 minutes of the match. Maximiliano Gómez opened the scoring in the 11th minute, followed by Maximiliano Silvera's goal in the 31st minute. This surge put Nacional ahead 2-0 in the second leg, bringing them closer to overturning the aggregate deficit.

However, Tigre managed to quell Nacional's comeback hopes. In the closing minutes of the game, Santiago López scored for Tigre in the 82nd minute, effectively sealing their passage to the next stage of the competition and ending the Uruguayan team's aspirations.

In the round of 16, Tigre is set to face Montevideo City. The Uruguayan club topped Group F, finishing ahead of Gremio, Deportivo Riestra, and Palestino. The dates for the first leg of this upcoming tie are yet to be confirmed but are expected to take place between August 11 and August 13.
