TikTok adds voice messages and polls to comment sections

TikTok is expanding its comment sections with voice recordings, polls and richer photo options as it tries to make conversations beneath videos more interactive.

The platform is introducing voice comments that let users record audio replies of up to one minute. Other additions include polls, photo carousels and support for Live Photo comments.

TikTok says more than 1.7 billion comments appear on the platform each day, making comment sections an increasingly important part of how users interact with creators and each other. Users can record a voice comment by tapping the microphone in the comment box, and others can play it directly in the discussion.

The company says audio replies will follow the same community standards as other TikTok content. Moderation will combine automated systems and speech-to-text technology with human review.
