TikToker 'Ngoc sui' and Six Others Charged with Extorting $267,000

Hanoi – Seven people, including popular TikToker Bui Huynh Binh Ngoc, also known as 'Ngoc sui,' have been indicted on charges of property extortion. The Hanoi Police announced the indictments on June 8, naming Ngoc and six others, including repeat offenders, in the case.

Bui Huynh Binh Ngoc, 50, who has prior convictions, allegedly established Minh An Investment and Business Co., Ltd. as a front for his activities. He frequently posted videos online to build his reputation and influence. The investigation revealed that in 2023, Ngoc and his associates were approached by Lu Xuan Huy regarding a dispute over capital contributions and profits from a hotel business.

According to investigators, Ngoc, along with Nguyen Quy Thai and others, agreed to use coercive measures against an individual identified as Mr. C.C.M. to recover the investment. These tactics reportedly included hiring a group of disabled veterans to gather outside the hotel in three-wheeled vehicles, blocking entrances, disrupting business operations, and assaulting staff. The group also allegedly followed and filmed Mr. M.'s child outside their school, issuing threats.

Fearing severe disruption to his business and reputation, Mr. M. transferred 6.8 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately $267,000 USD) to the suspects. The money was then divided among the accused according to a prior agreement. Police apprehended the suspects on May 26. The Hanoi Police stated that the indictments demonstrate their commitment to combating organized crime groups that exploit business facades for illegal activities. Ngoc, known online as 'Ngoc Sùi Official,' has over 640,000 followers on TikTok, with videos often featuring 'gangster philosophy' attracting millions of views.
