Tim Curry, star of Rocky Horror, dies at 80

Tim Curry, the versatile actor celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," has died at the age of 80.

Born in Cheshire in 1946, Curry's theatrical journey began after university with a role in the original London production of the rock musical "Hair" in 1968. His career took a significant turn in 1973 when a fellow cast member, Richard O'Brien, invited him to audition for a new musical. Curry secured the role of the flamboyant, lingerie-clad "sweet transvestite from Transylvania," Dr. Frank-N-Furter, first on stage at London's Royal Court.

The show's immense popularity led to a big-screen adaptation in 1975, which also featured Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Richard O'Brien. While not an immediate box office success, the film cultivated a devoted fan base over time.
