Tinubu appoints new Head of Nigeria’s Civil Service

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abel Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, a significant transition set to take effect on August 27, 2026. Enitan, currently the most senior Permanent Secretary, steps into the role vacated by Didi Walson-Jack, who is retiring upon reaching the statutory age.

Enitan, hailing from Osun State, brings a wealth of experience, having served as Permanent Secretary for over seven years across various ministries, including Police Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the Vice President. His current position is Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education. Officials highlighted his considerable institutional knowledge and deep understanding of the Federal Civil Service's operations.
