Tinubu committed to ending insecurity, says Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu's administration is making significant strides in tackling the nation's pervasive insecurity challenges. He expressed strong confidence that these issues, which include terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, will soon be a thing of the past.

Akpabio made these remarks while receiving members of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria at the National Assembly in Abuja. He highlighted the recent rescue of schoolchildren abducted in Oyo State as a testament to the Federal Government's dedication to restoring security. "The current administration is doing a whole lot. I can assure you that very soon, the issue of security would be a thing of the past," Akpabio stated, advising against relying on social media narratives that may not reflect the full reality.

As Nigerians, we are all aware of the insecurity challenges that we are currently facing. All I can say is that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is giving the situation its utmost attention, and that is what led to the recent release of the school children that were abducted in Oyo State.

Beyond security, Akpabio addressed the challenges faced by women in politics. He attributed the reluctance of some women to support their counterparts during elections to the conduct of certain female officeholders in the past, which he believes has negatively impacted opportunities for others seeking elective positions.

The Senate President also pledged the National Assembly's support for the upcoming international ladies golf tournament scheduled to be held at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja. The National President of the Ladies Golf Association, Dr. Lima Ahmed, had invited Akpabio to the event and decorated him as the Grand Patron of the association.
