Tinubu Declares End to Neglect of Abuja Suburbs, Inaugurates Major Water Project

President Bola Tinubu has declared that the era of neglecting the Federal Capital Territory's (FCT) suburbs is over, vowing to prioritize development in these areas under his administration's "Renewed Hope Agenda." This commitment was underscored by the inauguration of a massive 194-kilometer water supply network designed to serve Karu, Orozo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, and other surrounding satellite towns.

Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the inauguration in Kurudu, Abuja, President Tinubu stated that his administration is fulfilling a promise of governance that delivers tangible results, not just theoretical exercises. "We are here not just to cut a ribbon, but to breathe life into a fundamental human right that has eluded this bustling community for far too long," he said, officially declaring the end of neglect for the satellite towns.

The president recalled a directive given a year prior during the inauguration of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project, emphasizing that development must extend beyond elite districts into the satellite towns where the working-class population resides. He expressed no hesitation when FCT Minister Nyesom Wike presented the proposal for the Karu Water Supply Project, recognizing water as essential for health, dignity, and economic progress.

The metropolitan loops must not end in the elite districts. They must stretch. They must expand into our satellite towns, where the heartbeat of Abuja’s working-class population truly resides.

Tinubu commended the FCT minister for the project's swift execution, noting that bureaucratic delays were overcome to ensure timely funding and prompt delivery by the contractor, CGC Nigeria Limited. The newly commissioned network will bring treated, safe, and potable water directly to residents' homes. The president stressed that leadership is measured by tangible impact, not rhetoric, highlighting ongoing developments across transportation, healthcare, education, housing, and roads as evidence of his administration's vision meeting reality.
