Tinubu Eulogizes Health Minister Ali Pate on His 58th Birthday

President Bola Tinubu has praised Health and Social Welfare Coordinating Minister Muhammad Ali Pate as he turns 58, highlighting what he described as major advances in Nigeria’s health sector under Pate’s ministry.

In a statement issued by Tinubu’s Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president commended Pate’s contributions to health and social welfare. He pointed to the revitalization of more than 3,100 primary healthcare centers and the reorganization of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, which has enabled more than 37 million Nigerians to access basic healthcare.

Tinubu also cited upgrades to health facilities and investments in infrastructure and personnel. These included the establishment of three oncology centers across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, the recruitment of more than 20,000 health professionals into federal tertiary hospitals and the training of more than 78,000 frontline health workers.

The president highlighted HPV vaccination for more than 17.1 million adolescent girls as another major initiative, saying it would help protect them against cervical cancer. He also praised Pate’s role in attracting investment to healthcare and pharmaceuticals through the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain, which has secured a project pipeline worth more than $5 billion.

Tinubu joined Pate’s family, friends and associates in wishing him good health and renewed strength as he continues to serve the country.
