Tinubu inaugurates road, hails infrastructure drive in FCT

President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway in Abuja, a significant infrastructure project aimed at expanding the Federal Capital Territory's development and boosting economic growth. Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu declared that his administration is committed to delivering projects that yield visible improvements in citizens' lives, prioritizing hard work and practical results over quick fixes.

Fellow citizens, when we took the oath of office to lead this great nation, we didn’t promise shortcuts. We promised hard work. We promised a renewed hope that is tangible, hope that you can see, hope that you can feel, and hope that you can drive on.

Tinubu articulated that infrastructure development is crucial for unlocking a city's potential, creating jobs, and easing daily life for all residents, from market traders to corporate workers. He highlighted the Outer Southern Expressway project as an example of this commitment, noting its previous phases, including the inauguration of its first stage in June 2024 and a service carriageway in 2025. The president stressed that his government does not initiate projects only to abandon them, asserting that the era of uncompleted projects in Nigeria is diminishing.

What we are doing here today goes far beyond laying asphalt or mixing concrete. We are paving the way for a brighter future. Infrastructure is the very artery of economic growth.

The president specifically praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his "effective leadership" in transforming Abuja's infrastructure. Tinubu commended Wike for ensuring accountability and delivery in project execution, stating, "Minister Wike, you have shown that public service is about performance, not excuses. You have kept the contractors on their toes, and you have kept our vision alive." He added that this exemplifies the "Renewed Hope" agenda, delivering quality results on time.
