Tinubu meets Anyim, governors after presidential primary victory

President Bola Tinubu hosted former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and a group of state governors at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos on Tuesday. The visits occurred just two days after Anyim presided over the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election, which affirmed Tinubu as the party's candidate for the 2027 general election.

Photographs released by the State House showed Tinubu holding separate meetings with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu. These engagements followed Anyim's official declaration of Tinubu's win at the APC presidential primary held in Abuja on Sunday.

Serving as the Returning Officer and Chairman of the Presidential Primary Elections Committee, Anyim announced that President Tinubu secured 10,999,162 votes. His sole challenger, businessman Stanley Osifo, received 16,503 votes. The primary, conducted across all 774 local government areas and 8,809 wards nationwide on Saturday, May 23, 2026, marked the first formally contested ward-level direct presidential primary in the party's history. This exercise concluded a week-long series of APC primaries, including those for the House of Representatives, Senate, State Assemblies, and governorships.

It is therefore my duty as returning officer for this primary election to declare President Bola Tinubu, having satisfied the guidelines, as the winner of the APC presidential primary election and hereby declared the presidential candidate of the APC.
