Tinubu mourns Zurmi emir Alhaji Bello Sulaiman

President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Alhaji Bello Sulaiman, the Emir of Zurmi, describing him as a respected traditional ruler who guided his people through difficult security challenges.

Sulaiman, known as the Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi, died on Monday after five years on the throne. In a statement issued by presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu extended condolences to the emir’s family, the Zurmi Emirate Council, the government and people of Zamfara State, and Nigeria’s traditional institution.

Tinubu said the monarch led with wisdom, dignity and commitment during a challenging period. He credited Sulaiman with fostering peace, unity and resilience in the emirate despite difficult circumstances.

“His Royal Highness was a stabilising figure whose wise counsel and dedication to peace-building were invaluable not only to Zurmi Emirate but to Zamfara State and our nation’s efforts to restore lasting peace in the North-West,” Tinubu said.

The president prayed that Allah would forgive the late ruler’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannah Firdaus. He also prayed for comfort and strength for those mourning him.
