Tinubu Orders 30-Day Probe into Fake Presidential Council

President Bola Tinubu has launched a swift investigation into a fraudulent organization masquerading as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been given 30 days to deliver a comprehensive report on the matter.

The directive follows the discovery that the PFIPC is a fictitious entity, with no legal basis or government establishment. An individual named Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew falsely presented himself as the Director-General and a presidential appointee.

The ICPC's probe will delve into the use of forged appointment letters and official documents. It will also scrutinize how the false claim of presidential backing was used to seek official recognition and diplomatic support, including visa facilitation. The investigation will further examine the opening and operation of multiple bank accounts under the guise of government agencies, allegedly using forged documents.

President Tinubu emphasized that the integrity of his office and federal government institutions must be safeguarded against impersonation, forgery, and the exploitation of public service weaknesses. The investigation aims to uncover not only the actions of the primary individual and collaborators but also the broader circumstances that allowed the fake body to appear legitimate. The commission is tasked with identifying procedural weaknesses within government and recommending measures to prevent future abuses.
