Tinubu Orders Arrest of Fake Agency Promoter, Suspends 3 Permanent Secretaries

President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive action against corruption by ordering the immediate arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze, the promoter of a purported fake government agency. Three federal Permanent Secretaries – M. S. Danjuma, Engr. Nadungu Gagare, and Richard Pheelangwah – have also been suspended.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) uncovered the unauthorized entity, which operated under the name National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office. Shockingly, this fake agency had secured office accommodation within the prestigious Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) complex without any presidential approval.

This latest development stems from the ICPC's broader investigation into fictitious government entities and the exploitation of official structures. The discovery within the OSGF complex is directly linked to the commission's ongoing probe into the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an entity previously flagged by the President.

President Tinubu has directed a comprehensive audit of all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and internal government processes to prevent future occurrences. The ICPC is tasked with thoroughly investigating how the fake agency gained access to government premises and identifying any public officials who may have facilitated its operations. Nwabueze, who allegedly used multiple aliases, is now the subject of an intensive search.
