Speaking at the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2026 in Port Harcourt, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu highlighted plans to modernize the Nigerian Army. The focus is on enhancing its ability to contain prevailing security challenges through sustained research and development, advancing technology, and strengthening homegrown innovations.

The administration believes that partnerships, like the one represented by the African Land Forces Forum, will provide momentum for local defense production. This is expected to create skilled employment and build national confidence through self-reliance in arming the nation.
