Tinubu sweeps APC primary, Osifo scores zero in key states

President Bola Tinubu secured a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary, sweeping the vote in numerous states including the Federal Capital Territory, Delta, and Kogi. His sole challenger, businessman Stanley Osifo, failed to garner any votes in these key regions, recording a zero score in the Federal Capital Territory, Delta, Kogi, Ebonyi, Kwara, Borno, Kebbi, Edo, Enugu, Katsina, and Jigawa states.

The results, announced at the ongoing collation exercise in Abuja, showed Tinubu receiving all votes cast in these states. For instance, in the FCT, all 36,103 votes went to Tinubu, while Osifo received none. Similarly, Kogi saw all 197,370 votes cast go to the incumbent president.

While Osifo drew a blank in several states, he did manage to secure some votes in Anambra, Abia, Kano, Katsina, and Oyo. In Anambra, he received 383 votes out of 43,034 cast for Tinubu. In Abia, he polled 1,007 votes out of 162,012. In Kano, Osifo garnered 2,675 votes against Tinubu's 503,527, and in Katsina, he secured 229 out of 467,232 votes. In Oyo, Osifo received 929 votes compared to Tinubu's 142,754.

Osifo, who purchased the N100 million APC presidential nomination form, had vowed to contest against the incumbent after a planned consensus arrangement failed. The nationwide direct primary was conducted across all 8,809 wards. The final declaration was expected to be followed by the presentation of the party's certificate of return and flag to Tinubu, with APC governors, National Executive Committee members, and other party stalwarts in attendance.
