Tinubu Urges APC Governors to Unite, Mobilize for 2027 Elections

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to foster unity within the party and spearhead grassroots mobilization efforts in preparation for the 2027 general election. The President emphasized that electoral contests are decided at the state and local levels, placing significant responsibility on the governors to lead campaign activities.

Mr President continues to emphasise the unity of the party, the unity of the country, reduction of poverty in this country and what the governors must do to ensure that we do everything possible to reduce poverty and make sure that we carry everybody along.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, speaking after a meeting with the governors under the Progressive Governors’ Forum, disclosed that Tinubu stressed the importance of strengthening the party and connecting its political activities to poverty reduction and improved welfare for Nigerians. The President also highlighted the need for national unity and ensuring citizens are informed about government programs.

The elections are actually at the states and not in Abuja. The governors will take the lead in the campaign at the state level.

Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, confirmed that the governors reaffirmed their support for President Tinubu's re-election. He noted that discussions with the President centered on governance, with a particular focus on reducing the cost of living, easing transportation costs, ensuring food security, and making sure the benefits of economic reforms reach the populace. The governors also assessed areas where the government could enhance its interventions.

Governance, which took most of the time, is about how to reduce the cost of living in Nigeria, ease the cost of transportation, food security, agriculture, bring prosperity to the people and ensure that the dividends of the various reforms we have gotten over the years trickle down to the people.
