Tinubu wins APC presidential ticket for 2027

President Bola Tinubu has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election, following a decisive victory in the party's nationwide presidential primary held on Saturday. Tinubu, the incumbent, faced minimal opposition from his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, securing a landslide win in most declared results.

The primary elections, supervised by governors appointed as collation officers, were largely peaceful. In Rivers State, Tinubu garnered 280,468 votes with Osifo receiving none. Similarly, Edo State saw Tinubu win 131,096 votes against Osifo's single vote. Gombe State reported Tinubu with 450,516 votes and no votes for the challenger. Osun State followed suit with Tinubu receiving 100,880 votes and Osifo zero.

Further results showed Tinubu sweeping Ebonyi State with all 207,579 valid votes, while Osifo received none. Kwara State declared Tinubu the winner with 310,990 votes against Osifo's zero. Bayelsa State recorded 277,192 votes for Tinubu and five for Osifo, while Zamfara State had 321,579 votes for Tinubu and 42 for his challenger.

Governors monitoring the exercise across various states, including Kaduna, Imo, and Kwara, highlighted the massive turnout as a demonstration of unity and confidence in Tinubu's leadership and the 'Renewed Hope Agenda.' Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that Tinubu would receive his certificate of return and the party flag on Sunday, officially marking his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election.
