Tinubu wins APC primaries in Bayelsa with 277,192 votes

President Bola Tinubu garnered 277,192 votes in the All Progressives Congress (APC) direct primaries held across the 105 wards in Bayelsa State's eight local government areas. Governor Douye Diri, who served as the state's Coordinator and Collation Officer for the presidential primary, announced the results at the collation center in Yenagoa.

As our party chairman already informed us, the party at the national level graciously asked me to be the returning officer and the chief collation officer.

Governor Diri praised the peaceful and calm conduct of the exercise, noting that it represented a positive shift from the party's "toxic" primaries in the past. He emphasized the importance of collective support in elections and urged party members to unite ahead of the 2027 general election. "To all those who contested and lost, you still have to be party men," Diri stated, acknowledging the sportsmanship of the aspirants present.

He expressed confidence in the APC's strong position to dominate the upcoming elections, citing the party's unity and the strength of incumbency at both state and federal levels. "With our numerical strength and incumbency, it is game over in Bayelsa State," he declared, highlighting the party's strategic advantage.

You have conducted yourselves so well. The exercise has been peaceful, calm, and in some areas, more of a festive mood.

The results showed Tinubu receiving substantial votes in each local government area, including 39,454 in Brass, 45,949 in Ekeremor, 22,593 in Kolokuma/Opokuma, and 32,487 in Nembe. Other areas contributed significant tallies: Ogbia (24,896), Sagbama (46,283), Southern Ijaw (34,692), and Yenagoa (30,834). Tinubu's sole challenger, Mr. Stanley Osifo, received only five votes from the Yenagoa local government area.

Earlier, Governor Diri spoke to party faithful, asserting that the APC, through President Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda," offers hope to Nigerians. He acknowledged that the administration's reforms might be painful but are necessary for long-term prosperity. Diri also noted that Tinubu was the overwhelmingly preferred choice due to his leadership record and national visibility.
