TİP's 'framework law' decision revealed

The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) has announced its intention to vote in favor of a "framework law" proposal concerning the Kurdish issue, despite voicing significant criticisms about the process. The party stated it would cast a "yes" vote while also registering its reservations.

TİP contends that the legislative process lacked transparency and broad participation, and that crucial democratization steps were omitted. The party has called for the implementation of rulings from the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights, the cessation of trustee appointments in local administrations, and the establishment of robust guarantees for the right to political engagement.

In a statement, TİP asserted that the "Palace Regime" has intensified its counter-revolutionary direction and effectively dismantled the existing Republic, leaving it in name only. The party criticized the regime's reliance on "naked force" to suppress opposition, citing daily operations against municipalities and the arrest of mayors as actions that provoke public anger. TİP pledged to continue joint struggle and solidarity against the usurpation of public will and the forceful takeover of opposition municipalities that the government could not defeat electorally.

The party also observed that the opposition front remains fragmented. It pointed to the CHP's (Republican People's Party) "nullification decision" and subsequent internal divisions as demonstrating the need for a genuine popular resistance against the regime's counter-revolutionary attacks. TİP believes that the path charted by capital and imperialism for the "Palace Regime" is leading all elements of the established political order toward right-wing alignment and eventual submission. The Workers' Party of Turkey positions itself as a guarantor of genuine resistance against this trend, advocating for a line of "Independence, Democracy, Socialism."

Regarding the Kurdish issue specifically, TİP emphasized that its resolution is essential for equality and peace in Turkey. The party has historically advocated for peace and believes the solution should be developed openly in parliament, not behind closed doors. Although critical of the government's framing of the process as "Terror-Free Turkey" without directly naming the issue, TİP participated in the commission to witness, intervene, and strengthen the possibility of peace. However, the party ultimately voted against the commission's final report, sharing its criticisms publicly.
