Tisvildeleje festival could continue under new local plan

Musik i Lejet may have found a way to continue in Tisvildeleje, although the festival’s proposed new home has already drawn local opposition.

Gribskov Municipality’s Planning, Environment and Climate Committee has decided to prepare a local plan for the festival at Vejby Camping. Tue Villebro, the committee’s chairman, told TV 2 Kosmopol that the plan should be ready by November.

The proposal would make Musik i Lejet the only event held at the campsite during the summer. Three other events could take place in spring and autumn, Villebro said.

The festival began on the beach in Tisvildeleje in 2009 as a one-day event. It grew over the years, both in scale and attendance. In 2025, the Planning Appeals Board ruled that it could no longer be held on the beach.

Good Boys Agency, which runs the festival, then bought Vejby Camping to keep the event going. The agency also plans to hold several larger events at the campsite. Those plans have prompted protests from residents of Tisvildeleje and people in the nearby holiday-home area.
