Tokayev announced new joint projects between Kazakhstan and China

Kazakhstan and China are deepening their economic ties, with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighting a "solid foundation" for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation due to a high level of political trust. Last year, bilateral trade hit a record $49 billion, underscoring the robust partnership.

China's investment in Kazakhstan's economy exceeds $30 billion, supporting more than 8,500 enterprises with Chinese capital. Major companies like CNPC, CITIC, and Huawei are noted for their significant contributions to Kazakhstan's economic modernization. The two nations have a history of successful joint projects that have created jobs, introduced advanced technologies, and strengthened industrial cooperation.

Currently, Kazakhstan and China are jointly implementing new strategic projects. These include the construction of a major gas chemical complex with Sinopec, a deep corn processing plant with Fufeng Group, and a modern cotton and textile cluster with Lihua Group. Additionally, Chinese automotive enterprises are expanding their presence, with brands like HOWO, Yutong, JAC, Changan, Great Wall Motor, and Chery now produced in Kazakhstan, showcasing a focus on innovation and industrial advancement.

President Tokayev also emphasized Kazakhstan's digital transformation priorities, particularly the "Data Center Valley" project in Ekibastuz. He described it as a unique strategic initiative aimed at creating an international-level platform for data centers, cloud services, and artificial intelligence infrastructure. This project is envisioned as a key pillar of digital infrastructure for Kazakhstan and Central Asia, offering investors fully equipped sites, modern infrastructure, and a special investment regime with stable electricity supply.

The initiative extends beyond data centers to create a comprehensive innovation ecosystem. This ecosystem will integrate supercomputer capacity, AI laboratories, research organizations, educational programs, startups, and export-oriented digital services. Kazakhstan views artificial intelligence as a primary driver for future economic growth and is actively developing its digital infrastructure to attract international investors.
