Toluca crushes FC Juárez 4-0 to keep pressure on leaders América

Toluca needed little effort to overpower FC Juárez, winning 4-0 at the Nemesio Diez stadium and continuing its pursuit of América near the top of the Apertura 2026 standings.

The hosts attacked from the opening minutes and refused to give their opponents much possession. Helinho scored in the ninth minute, Jesús Murillo added an own goal in the 33rd, and Oswaldo Virgen and Federico Viñas completed the rout in the 72nd and 79th minutes.

The score could have been even wider. An offside decision and Jorge Díaz Price’s failure to finish prevented Toluca from adding more goals, while FC Juárez generated little threat against goalkeeper Hugo González.

Antonio Mohamed had to make changes to his starting lineup with Toluca due to play a Leagues Cup semifinal during the week. The team’s performance, however, remained convincing with both starters and substitutes. Toluca increased its attacking efficiency, controlled the pace late in the match and rarely surrendered the ball.

The victory put the team, known as the Red Devils, in second place. Toluca has the league’s best attack alongside América and the second-best defense, leaving Mohamed’s side competing strongly on both fronts.
